Africa Data Centres is expanding its Midrand facility in Johannesburg. This investment is in response to the skyrocketing demand for data centres, as businesses across the continent accelerate their digital transformation journeys in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The expanded data centre will offer customers the flexibility they require from a colocation facility and will offer a wide range of services to its customers from low-density racks for small businesses to high-density racks for their enterprise counterparts.
The scale of this facility will meet the growing demand for reliable data centre capacity in the region and will increase Africa Data Centres’ capacity by 10 megawatts. Additionally, the site is built to a Tier-4 standard facility, which is unique in South Africa.
The expansion will consist of four data halls with 6,000 m2 white space, a client IT load of 20 MW upon completion, as well as connectivity to major hubs and Dark Fibre Infrastructure. It will also include hot aisle and cold aisle containment to maintain cooling efficiencies.
All critical infrastructure and security systems will be managed and monitored 24/7 via a security operations centre and service control centre. Low-pressure gas assistance installed in the data halls is triggered by a double-knock detection fire alarm. For data security, standards including ISO2700, ISO9001, ISO4500, ISO14001, and PCI DSS are in place.
Africa Data Centres are designed, built and operated to the highest standards demanded by today’s leading cloud providers, carriers and enterprises – providing your business with peace-of-mind, regardless of the scale of requirement.
Our facilities are purpose-built and entirely owned and operated by us. This means the physical and digital security of your data and transactional computer processing remain front-of-mind from the physical layer up.
